000 FZHW52 PHFO 070215 SRFHFO Surf Zone Forecast for Hawaii National Weather Service Honolulu HI 415 PM HST Mon Feb 6 2023 .DISCUSSION... Surf along north and west-facing shores will gradually climb into Tuesday morning as a moderate size, long period northwest (310-320 degree) swell builds down the island chain. This swell is expected to peak Wednesday and then begin fading Thursday. A gale passing across the Date Line tonight will be the source region for the next north (340-350 degree) swell arriving Thursday. At its peak, this swell should drive surf up to around high surf advisory levels along northern exposures late Thursday. This swell will decline from Friday into the weekend. Rough sea conditions can be anticipated along eastern shores in response to strong to near gale force mid to late week trades over and upstream of the area. East-facing shore surf heights have a high probability of reaching high surf advisory levels Friday and Saturday.
