Bride Julien was born on the beautiful island of Camiguin in the Philippines and grew up there until she moved to the UK at 13 years old. When she and groom Patrick were dating, they visited Camiguin together and knew immediately that when they said “I do” they wanted to do it there.
The ruins of an old church proved to be the perfect spot for these two self-professed “nature enthusiasts” with the four remaining moss and vine covered walls creating an open-air ceremony space that was surrounded by trees and plant growth. From there they turned to planner Events by Amanda Tirol and event designer and florist House of Hermosa to pack the space with roses and greenery and create a lush fairytale feel.
The celebration included four days worth of adventures in the great outdoors like snorkeling and visits to waterfalls so that guests who’d traveled in could make the most of their time on the iconic island.

The Ceremony

We absolutely cannot get enough of the floral wonderland that House of Hermosa created within the ruins of this old church.

“As a couple we love our weekend getaways in the English countryside,” say Julien + Patrick. “So our main inspiration which we communicated to Gideon Hermosa, our wedding stylist, was definitely to transform the old church ruins into an English garden with lush florals just like how it is in England during springtime.”

Julien tried different types of dresses to discover that a sheath style gown would suit her body type best. With that in mind she focused in on that silhouette, and, on a trip to Js Couture in London, she found the “Orrie” dress by Enzoani. “All of my friends were left speechless,” Julien says, “and it even brought my maid of honour to tears.” The fit was perfect, and it was comfortable enough to make sense in a tropical climate. “And to top it all off,” says Julien, “I really had the vision that the romantic, embroidered pattern of vines and flowers, together with the delicate Chantilly lace, would suit the overall vibe and aesthetic we wanted for the old church ruins, our ceremony venue.”
