The Africa Project, filmed in 2012 by Jason Hearn, made its rounds and won awards in local film festivals, but has never been available online — until now. Premium members can watch the full film right here.
Produced, directed, filmed and edited by Hearn, The Africa Project was shot between 2009 and 2012, and as far as we can tell, this hour-and-a-half documentary just might be the most definitive, comprehensive, and visually enchanting look at the African surfing experience of this century. No offense to Beyond, Satori, Thirty Thousand or Sliding Liberia, but wave-wise, this is close as you’re gonna get to a full curriculum that, despite a few conspicuous hold-outs like Durban and Mozambique, runs the gamut of wild destinations along the African coastline, from Senegal to the East Coast.
One small warning: the footage in the below full-length feature documentary will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about what constitutes Good to Epic surf.
