The meeting: Candidate was placed in a small container of seawater at the end of the conference table. The committee addressed three agenda items. Candidate was consulted on one of them (coastal access path maintenance) on the grounds that Candidate has more direct experience of the relevant environment than any other committee member. Candidate’s contribution to the consultation was documented in the minutes as “sustained presence and consistent position maintenance.” The committee chair described this as “the most useful thing I’ve heard at a committee meeting in recent memory.” This is almost certainly hyperbole. It is also almost certainly accurate.

The Governance Finding

The governance finding from Candidate’s first meeting: the committee’s procedural discussion produced more heat than light, as committee procedural discussions tend to. Candidate, being a crab, did not participate in the procedural discussion.
